i played in mfn-1. I am familiar with the game engine so to speak but it would depend on what info your looking for. I didn't really put a lot of time into analyzing the game engine as far as what stats were being produced based on certain attributes.

I did find that the matching of game plan, personnel, and plays selected did make a difference for me as we progressed through the season. ex. after 7 to 8 games I started looking at the plays i selected and which ones were more successful, then I went to the game plan and personnel and tried to match those with the more successful plays.

let me know if there is something else your thinking

I was just wanting to know how realistic is seemed. How much my gameplanning seems to matter. I put some time selecting plays and what not, just wanted to know if it made much difference.

I wasn't looking for a silver bullet type thing (ala BPR in FOF), just a feel for how the games went

I really like the interface on this, and I like the method of gameplanning, I'm just hoping it actually matters.

It matters a lot IMO. After those 8 games were played and I had data on what plays/personnel were more successful I made changes with very noticeable results.

We had a losing record but some games were close, then after the changes
1 we beat a now division winner
2 "" a now playoff team
3 lost a close game that could have won...non playoff team
4 had the game won and lost in OT against a now division winner
5 beat a team with a winning record not a playoff team

we went 4-3 but one thing I noticed is our D played better. For the D my personnel selections were all over the map, much better after the changes.

wanted to add is scouting is important. you'll see the times opponent called play and how successful they are with that play as well as your teams familiarity.
on the play selection for your team you'll see similar info times called, familiar, yard per call
those 2 things were very helpful info

I like the scout/gameplanning feature. It has a real life gameplanning feel to it, without being overwhelming.

I wanted to comment on "how the games feel". I don't have a bunch of data collected to throw at you so this is more of a feel while watching type of analysis.

For the most part I felt like the game was realistic. I just don't recall too many times where my team or the other team just got outlandish big plays too frequently against a D formation/play that was designed to stop a play. Now granted it did happen at times but the key was not overly frequent. There seems to be enough variation to keep it interesting but at the same time not so varied that there isn't some predictability.

I'll probably tune myself into this more as this league starts playing games but nothing stuck out to me that said "oh, that type of big play just happens too much". There were some issues with FG kicking, rushing yards, and passing pct early in the mfn-1 season but JDB worked hard on those tendencies and they are much better now.

Obviously nothing is perfect but overall I have liked how the games play out. It will be interesting to hear your opinions as we get into the games (reg season more then pre season). Pre season your players will still be gaining experience with plays as well as improve conditioning so some things may not look right in preseason. May see a lot of injuries in pre season that taper off quick throughout the reg season.
