I think a small tweak to the QB AI on penalties could be made to make the game more realistic. The tweak I am suggesting is primarily for holding and offside calls.
I'm suggesting on a holding call, if the QB passes an "intelligence check" he could throw the ball away. Conversely, on an offsides call, if he passes an "intelligence check", he would throw the ball to the deepest receiver taking advantage of the "free play".
An "intelligence check" could be many things. I imagine a formula that takes a QB's intelligence and position experience and adds it to a random number, then the game checks to see if this value exceeds the minimum required to "react" to the penalty.
