Is it just me, or is the salary cap in fact averaged for every team? Like I'm not sure what the suggestion here is.
At the beginning of every season, the salary cap is the same for every team. The difference in cap space is a direct result of the owner's actions. It is like giving $100 to 32 different people with the stipulation of being able to spend it any way the individual sees fit, but will not be getting anymore until next season. Some owners will spend it like a drunken sailor, having very little before next payday, and some owners will hold on to it for when they need it.
The issue with this thread is that one person took over a team previously owned by a drunken sailor, which he then deemed unfair for him.
(Remember that he CHOSE the team in which the previous owner CHOSE to spend everything the team had.) The new owner of the cash strapped team then thought it would be better if everyone would/should be equal in the cap space. This caused problems because 1) the newly acquired team was stacked with talent, but unable to win due to improper knowledge on how to play from the owner, and 2) teams that had saved what they could would lose around $6 million apiece to help the stacked team to be able to continue to stack his team thru FA. Of course, while 98% of the owners said this is unfair, the owner of the cash strapped, stacked team continued to whine and cry because he refuses to accept responsibility for his choices and refuses to have any fairness about him. So basically, this thread is ALL ABOUT HIM
