The very first playbook had QB sneaks, but they always gained at least 3-4 yards every time, which meant that you could only call QB sneaks and always score a touchdown on every drive. The lesson here is that trick plays also require additional logic on the defensive side to be able to counter them and lower their effectiveness, or like you said, they become exploits, and who wants to watch a game where every play is a flea flicker?
I hope to add all of this at some point, but this would definitely require the normal plays to be removed of their anomalies.
