I'm pretty certain (though not completely so), that a player won't ever decline a contract offer. Can that be changed?
I just picked up this guy in late free agency:
https://cust33.myfootballnow.com/player/3442Entering the peak of his career, reasonable WR, probably a good 3rd or 4th guy on the depth chart. Who is now pretty much going to play out the rest of career for the minimum possible salary.
You'd imagine the best course for this guy would have been to decline my contract, or only take a single year deal if one came along in order to put himself in the shop window rather than be a FA. As it is, he may well finish his career having made very little cash (in footballing terms).
I know it's probably fairly deep to try and programme player preferences, but I just thought the above was pretty odd, and a bit of the game that wasn't terribly realistic.
