I accepted this trade mostly to talk about the trade weight measurement. A future 5,6, and 7th seems pretty light for a 6th year solid 75 rating RT/LT. The trade guideline says this is totally in my favor though. Am I way off in thinking it's more like 2 or 3 value?

Yeah, late round picks are definitely grossly over-weighted. For instance, offering my first round pick to Davesgang in exchange for his and my previously traded 7th is considered a balanced trade. Throw in a third 7th and it would show as being extremely in my favor!

Take the trade balance graph with a grain of salt, it's really impossible to objectively valuate a trade. For example, in order to calculate a balance when trading 7th round picks for 6th round picks, you have to give each a value - but that in turn makes it possible to trade a ton of 7th round picks for a 1st round pick and the algorithm will think it's balanced, when obviously anyone would give up their entire future of 7th round picks for the 1.1 pick, and no one would ever give up the 1.1 for 1,000 7th round picks. Add the complexity of different teams having different values for players, and the balance bar really is just there to prevent the outliers from going through.

I think it would help a lot if you just decreased the value of 6th and 7th round picks a great deal. If you decreased the value enough, then a bunch of 6th or 7th round picks wouldn't balance out with a first.

I agree. Currently a 7th round pick can sway a deal involving 1st round picks and 99 rated players from even to all the way over. Something is off.

Point taken, but as it is, two 7ths equaling one 1st is a bit much, no?

Wow, I would take that trade ANY day. A very solid OT with lots of good seasons for 3 low round picks. Honestly, 6th and 7th rd in particular are overweighted as is 5th to some extent

Jdb your right a 1.1 pick shouldn't be traded for a thousand 7th round picks. If you refer to the points guideline I was recommending it should be 1500;-)
