Did something change with the automatic rookie contracts? Last year's 2.6 pick, Charles Acuna (http://mfn2.myfootballnow.com/player/2706) signed a 4 year, 18.3 million contract. This year's 2.6 pick by me, Brent Stitch (http://mfn2.myfootballnow.com/player/3042) just signed a 4 year, 27.9 million contract.

That's a 50% increase in total value, and the cap hit this year is 6.6 million where it is only 4.5 million for Acuna in his second year.

Is this expected, or did something drastic change? I wasn't expecting a 6.6 million cap hit from my second round pick.

It looks like at first glance this is a bug - it seems that the base salary got the bonus tacked on to it as well. I'll investigate the fix and try to reset the contracts to the correct value for all drafted players tonight.

If this is the case, and your rookie contracts are corrected, gstelmack, I am okay to kill our recent trade if you wish. I understand it was due to you needing to release some cap money.

No, I needed that trade before this. I was 4 million over before my 2nd round pick. Even if this ends up fixing the first round pick, I was still going to be over. So the trade can stay.

I noticed this because suddenly I was 9 million over, with the trade + my second round pick, and that just didn't look right.

Contracts have been fixed. The transaction log will still show the incorrect value. I also fixed the draft signing code and will check tomorrow's picks to make sure they have accurate contracts.

BTW, for cap room, you might check to see what players will renegotiate for. Usually I can free up a couple million in cap by just doing some renegotiation, giving players what they want.

FA was too good to me...
