surprised to see that SS go first overall, but the next few look like very solid picks.
Happy with the cincy pick even though its just a center. One of those wr's would have been nice too.

I was disappointed to have to use my 5th overall pick on a player with max potential of 77. But, I really needed a QB, and I had him rated much higher than any other QB in the draft.

Poor quality draft class overall. Lots of players with max potential in the 70s going in the first round. Seems like there should be more players with star "potential". I've noticed this to be the case in other rookie drafts as well.

For those of you that have been around a while, is this normal, or has there just been a string of bad draft classes recently?

Hey,

Yeah I agree (regarding the caliber of the rookie ratings). I definitely thought there would be more players that would have higher floors and ceilings going in the 1st round. I'm also curious to see if this is the standard for rookie drafts.

All I can tell is that last season (my first one) there was quite a lot of 9x and 8x players. This class looks weaker. Big grain of salt of course

I agree that QB was the best looking one available. If you need a QB he wasn't gonna last much longer than 5th. Keep in mind the ratings can boom or bust too.

Overall this draft looks ok. Maybe a bit light on the 80+ players.

Draft seemed normal and the rating can change as much as +/- 10 with the ceiling as happens in RL. Seems pretty standard talent-wise IMO

I actually thought this draft was fairly deep in the first round, Usually near the end of first your having to pretty much settle but there was still choices for decent players with potential.

I think the first round players should be better than "decent".

Are you saying that you consider rookies with Max potential in the 70s to be first round talent? Just curious. You've been here longer than me and seem pretty experienced with this game (and successful!). I value your opinion on this.

Maybe my standards are too high for what I consider to be worth a first round pick.

The thing is, ratings can go up or down, depending on training camp etc so those 70's could be as high as 90 for instance, and conversely a 90 might in fact drop 10 or more...just as real-life.

NFL teams routinely trade out of the 1st rd in many drafts for various reasons and the way they judge and value talent. I agree with Morbid that this was a solid draft, though not spectacular, it was adequate in every sense of the word.

I am impressed with how David is improving this game and look forward to the continue evolving of MFN

Just to clarify. I wasn't talking about the entire draft. Just the 1st round.

I just don't see max 70 players as first round talent.

I know they can go up or down, but these first ratings are basically the players "projected" skill level. Unless all of these players go up, there are going to be a lot of max 60 players that were taken in the 1st round.
