Guys your coaches have a large impact on skill increases and decreases. I have seen that many of the higher overall rated coaches aren't suitable for many positional coaching positions. That being said I have yet to get a sharp increase on any of my draft picks in all of my leagues. However, in many instances I have seen steady increasing skill statistics over several years. I dunno maybe I'm doing it wrong!!

Actually coaches only have an impact on how fast your player gets to their potential (either good or bad). They do not improve upon what that player was going to eventually be.

That is good info if it's born out through the coding. So what creates the increases in potential as opposed to the improvements towards the end? Like a RB who is 46/83. During the season the 46 changes to 59 and the 83 changes to 88. What controls that second numbers increase if not the coaches? Anecdotally I have had a coach retire and when i hired a new coach he had less abilities. Subsequently a player in the new coach's position group declined in potential. For instance during one season the numbers are 45/83 and at seasons end 56/88. Then under the new coach 56/88 and end the season at 71/84.

Drafted 7 players and 5 of them had bad camps. 1 had a +1 (1st round WR) and another had zero progress. Not a good camp for me

According to David, each player has a range variance potential relative to his original draft rating.
For instance, a guy may have a +6 upside and a -9 downside meaning he is more likely to drop but then RNG comes into play and he can end up at any number within those parameter. Obviously the odds favor little change but sometimes the extremes come in to play merely through chance.
Cool formula IMO

So, why pay for coaches? I may be missing something but what does a high rated coach do that a low one doesn't?

For one, that coach money can not be used anywhere else so you might as well use it. Secondly your head coach determines your playbooks and your coaches determine how fast a player progresses towards where they are going to end up.
