I might give you the option to use the beta engine, but would continue to prioritize feature implementation in a similar way that I do now. That's the main reason the 'create league' feature hasn't been pushed higher (and it may be higher on the list than it really is), is because game engine work is a much higher priority.

Here is how I envision a private league working for me ..

I start off with 8 teams me and a buddy and 6 AI teams (I'd have to be confident the AI can handle a draft though first) .. adding owners to replace the AI. Maybe adding teams to get to 12, 16 (eventually 32) teams via expansion drafts?

Or are we talking start with a set number of teams say 8 and if I get 9 owners I'd need to start all over with a 12 team league.

Or 32 teams from the start?

Sorry for the questions (I think this could be a fun experience/trial for some people at my work who are a bit timid playing against "the world" .. lol

Initially it would be 32-team leagues, although I do intend to someday give you the ability to have smaller leagues - which would make private leagues easier to fill. I'm not sure whether I'd let you expand or not; that whole concept is a ways away from being implemented.

well when you are closer to getting the whole concept closer to being implemented please let us all know because i would imagine as it gets closer people would like to give ideas for the create a league feature.

unless of course it would be better to wait until it is in the game before we start posting ideas for the create a league feature.

Way late to this thread but just wanted to chime in that I think there would be tremendous value in a single-player format (one human and 31 AI) if I could make time proceed when I wanted -- a la Football Manager. This would make for an excellent game. Only thing I wish about MFN sometimes is the ability to make it go faster! And this would accomplish that.

I am excited about this concept ... so excited, in fact, I have already started working on a USFL/WFL public theme league. I have called "dibs," so nobody else better get the same idea (ha ha).

A long shot here, but any chance of having a 'tiered' or 'Relegation' style League? What kind of coding would that involve?

Would be kind of neat to have a Stacked League concept, where the Top 4 Teams move up each year and the Bottom 4 move down.

It would certainly break from American Tradition, and it would be a pretty awesome experience.

i wish sometimes that really in the custom leagues you could do that because really it would be so perfect for custom leagues in that people wouldnt get so bored being in the same division or even same conference all the time.

i truly believe that would happen for the custom leagues i think it would make people want to join a custom league where they could move into another division maybe like every season.
