In my opinion...
There needs to be more plays available to choose from.
We should be able to select as many plays from our playbooks as we'd like, not limited to 40/30 for some reason.
The impact of "play knowledge" should be reduced very significantly, or at least make the ability to learn plays much, much, much quicker. There is no reason it should take 2 seasons to learn any play.
The limit on calling a play a certain number of times should not be specific to a single play on defense, but a play type.
For example, my last game in MFN-1 I called 51 plays on defense.
23 different plays were called.
Only 1 play was called 5 times.
The rest were all 4 or less.
EVERY SINGLE PLAY WAS A BLITZ!
The worst part is that my team WON the game. Let me repeat, my team called NOTHING but blitzes all game long and still won the game. This should not happen.
This is KILLING this game for me, and many others as well. The most frustrating part is that eliminating it ASAP doesn't seem to be a high priority at all.
This is more important than QB accuracy, OL blocking, zone coverage, DL pressure, broken tackles, new stats, etc.
The only thing that comes close in importance is banning users like LYTREQ.
Hey WarEagle, I don't disagree with you about what you're saying, blitzes are way too strong and everyone would benefit from more plays being introduced. No doubt, you are right on both points. But we are not talking about the same issue, and neither of your solutions would fix the play overuse issue.
I've been playing football games since the Atari 2600, all of us oldies have. And in every game, (some more so than others,) there are plays that work well, plays that don't work, and SUPERPLAYS that work every time. And there is always guys that call those plays exclusively, and it always works, and it gets on my nerves every time. Adding plays would help, but guys will sift through those plays, find the SUPERPLAYS and call just a few of them. If blitzes become ineffective and, say, zone plays become the best plays, guys will call 6 zone plays and win that way. There are 'win at all cost' people out there that don't care about fairness or respect that will do this every time. It's more of a 'human nature' problem than a football problem...
You mentioned calling 23 blitzes and winning your game, and yeah, that probably shouldn't happen. But what I you to do now is take those 23 plays and take the 17 of them that gave up the most yards/play out. That would leave you with the 6 best plays. Now you can destroy your opponent! And that is my problem. Our issues are both valid, but one won't fix the other.
I figure that about 90-95% of guys are already well within the structure of my suggested adjustment. Most guys have full playbooks and balanced or stock plans and don't call plays more than 5 times in a game. This is simply to bring in line the guys that rely on a couple of plays to dominate and level the playing field for everyone.
But ultimately, I agree with you, and I think if both of our issues will get fixed.
