Quarterback Style

We already have a coaching style which governs coaches. Is there another one that governs quarterbacks? I've had one quarterback who wouldn't throw to the tight end, no matter what, even though he was supreme. I've got another quarterback who tries to force deep ***** no matter what, and usually takes sacks or throws interceptions when his designated receiver fails to get open. I've had another quarterback who played high risk and high reward, even though that is not my style at all.

Rather than continuing to try to pound square pegs into round holes, I would like to know ahead of time whether my quarterback might be a lost cause. If I could know the quarterback's style ahead of time, I could adapt the offense or perhaps avoid the risk altogether. I. E. Game Manager, Longballer, WR Focused, Scrambler, West Coast, etc.

I just pulled up Champions real quick - to see if that had 1 of the QBs you referenced. I wouldn't go deep thinking here.

It's the look off attribute + level of GM competition. (meaning any area of opening, game to game it's hard to overcome it unlike most leagues)

* In Champions I'd roll with Garcia. The trifecta of arm strength, pass release and look off in combination - toss a triangle around it. I'd target that as hard to overcome with the current QB #1. :(

It's individual basis. Some times the QB doesn't play up to the ratings and then some times it's play calling chemistry. (tinkering; removing plays to enhance performance or to streamline and funnel to certain high impact plays)

No, it wasn't one of those. I think the problem there is, my receivers are terrible. One quarterback is merely mediocre, while the other stinks out loud, and that might be a style problem, but it wasn't the cause. There are plenty of reasons for my problems there.

I did pretty well with this guy: https://afl.myfootballnow.com/player/3328
But then this guy suddenly discovered that I had a tight end: https://afl.myfootballnow.com/player/4461

This guy adapted to a short-range offense: https://ncaa-football.myfootballnow.com/player/4439
But this guy could not: https://ncaa-football.myfootballnow.com/player/6780

This guy went downhill quite a bit, but he used to be supreme: https://arena.myfootballnow.com/player/2960
I replaced him with this guy. I don't understand why he was so much better: https://arena.myfootballnow.com/player/5565

The look-off rating doesn't completely explain why some quarterbacks are better than others. If there is a hidden style attribute, it should be exposed.

I've got to go through your links but I don't think there's a hidden attribute. I believe it's play calls on your side, which may not feature the tight end and then on the opposite end - your GM competition.

Are you in a difficult division facing tough GMs consistently or is it more opened up for you to take control and have your way with the QB.

I already tried that, and the results were terrible instead of just bad. Is there a style attribute that is causing this?

Garcia - 29 speed and a pulled back avoid fumble rating of I believe I saw 35-ish. That's not a deal breaker, though. He can be made to work by pounding your plays and I think he'd be successful.

I don't think JDB layered the game that deeply for QBs to have different styles that they're tailored for. Coaches, outside of head coaches with their play books and some training camp/development effect - don't do anything.

Coaches aren't at a deep level with styles and stuff beyond slight changes in play availability due to the various styles.

I don't think JDB got down into QBs and having them perform differently based on scrambling vs. system QB or whatever. QBs running ended years ago so I can't see that stuff written in the code....

I was not hoping that Garcia could turn out to be a miracle worker, but that he could be better at getting rid of the ball. It didn't turn out that way. Is the only way to find that out by trial and (mostly) error?

Yes, I'm not scientific. You push it as far as it can go. Get the best plays in there, get a couple of game breaking play makers and push push push the plays.

If it's not working after a season or two and you can't find a reason or excuse for the QB - it's him.

Get him out of there and don't look back.

Are your QB's high in Intelligence? field of vision and pass accuracy.

Often QB's with low speed, low ball carrying and low avoid fumble find themselves under pressure more often, leading to throwaways, sacks, interceptions and strip sack fumbles.

So many variables for a QB, Have you set weights or just running with default settings? It may be in the way you have or haven't set the weightings. Hence supposedly lower rated QB's outperform supposed studs.

By all those lights, this guy should be a juggernaut: https://ncaa-football.myfootballnow.com/player/6780
But instead, he's mediocre on a good day.

Why is this guy: https://champions.myfootballnow.com/player/273
So much better than this guy: https://champions.myfootballnow.com/player/1255

Why is this guy: https://afl.myfootballnow.com/player/4461
Such a star? I'll take it, but he doesn't look very special to me.

Quarterbacks have stumped me for a long time, which is why I think there is something there, like a style rating, which I can't see.
