My Trade Reasons

By war152
6/30/2016 2:35 am
1 look up Matthew Lozano WR on my current team taken round 6.
2 Timmy Hue FB 1 rounder last year drops 10 overall 1st season
3 rebuilding comes in many forms more picks equals more positions/better odds of landing a decent player
4 look at my team, and think agin if you believe it will go nowhere.
5 yes last season went more south than expected, but setbacks happen, and this trade it to help build a team around a core I currently have so I might make the playoffs this or next season. Could I have found a better trade maybe, but at the time the trade was acceptable.

The issue wasn't trading your picks, it was the value you got in return, even if you make the playoffs the next couple seasons it is already very lopsided in favor of Chicago. If you happened to be trusting the trade bar know that it is a terrible idea to do so, you have to look at the value of the assets being traded. You should mostly ignore the trade bar.

Just for the sake of argument...

1. That WR boomed nicely... yet still has a speed of 53 or some such. He is never going to be a game changer.

2. Timmy Hue FB was a second round pick, and well... he's a FB.

3. Rebuilding comes in many styles... Yes, but if most people are saying your getting poor value... you could probably be rebuilding with better value regardless of style.

4. Look at your team... I'm not sure what you mean here, but looking at Chicago's team (and History) I guarantee CHI picks will be from a playoff team. Yours will continue to be from the bottom half.

5. Mostly as someone who has to play against a perennial playoff contender like Chicago it bothers me that you give him this kind of advantage, and that he took it. I've enjoyed a rivalry with King, but now every time I play him I'll really be thinking about wheeling and stealing picks instead of drafting well and working on a game plan.

Others call it jealousy if you will... I understand the urge to "WIN" trades. However I've gotten to where extreme fleecing newer owners really takes away the joy of winning and competition. For me at least.

Here's the other issue that no one is mentioning.

You threw the season.

That's called tanking. Your defense gave up somewhere in the neighborhood of 850 points last season. Now the morality and legality of tanking can be debated when its done for your team getting the number one pick.

You did it so Chicago gets the number one pick. To me that looks like collusion and cheating.

OK, I did, and it won't.

Here are my reasons:

1) Your roster is thin at top.

Your best players are actually pretty solid. Your five best players >90 (my weights) include your DE, DT, and QB. Your P/K are both >90, nothing wrong with that, but then you have another K that is rated 86. Why? Did your other kicker get hurt at some point?

The middle of the roster is where things become pear shaped. You only have six players >70. In my weights, 70 is the cut off for whether a player will be a solid backup and spot starter with the exception of a few positions. Part of this reason is that my weights are set in a way that emphasizes a players core attributes at position, which causes some players to be inflated.

What this tells me is that if we subtract your P and Ks, you have 13 players >70, so only one-quarter of your team are players that I would consider as solid players or better.

2) You players at key positions are not good.

A good running game can be one of the great equalizers in this game, and a good running game starts with backs that can make things happen on their own. Unfortunately, your top three running backs have speeds of 64, 69, and 30? None of those backs are going to run away from anyone.

Similarly, all of your WRs have SPs of <70. Your best WR, as was discussed above, has a SP of 57. So even when he gets open and catches the ball -- which he should because of his route, courage, and catch -- he's not going to run away from a defender.

This will mean that your offense will need to grind for points. This is particularly problematic given that this game loves the big play by big play makers. (There are reasons I way overspent for a 100 potential RB.)

3) The back seven of your defense is terrible.

You currently have two LBs. Why? As underpowered as they are, a good LB corps will help you stop a run game.

More importantly, you only have two DBs with SPs above 60. Given the predominance of big plays in this game, you need your DBs to come clean up plays.

Glad to see you respond. Cincy kinda stole my thunder but I will add my two cents. Bling has proven he is very good at this game and I hate to think that collusion was involved with the trades because it will tarnish anything he does moving forward. I asked the admin to look into the trade because of the reasons already mentioned and he was ok with it, so that is good enough for me. Now that being said, MFN-2 is hard [some very good GM’S] you are in my division and just so you know Cincinnati and Baltimore are two of the better GM’S in this game. I took over Cleveland who was total ****, 36 straight losses and in a major financial bind. I figured 5 years to get this team into being a playoff caliber team. Looks more like it will be 7. Right now getting to 8-8 is my goal. Just my opinion but looking at your team you’re in the same boat as me. The one thing I have discovered in this league you need more than players, you need to know how to gameplan, easier to do with high quality players then a bunch of mid-tier bots with holes. So thanks for responding and good luck moving forward.

This is my response to King asking me how I could say such things...

Its not slander if its true King. I know I've talked new owners out of making trades like that rather than taking advantage of them like you did. If your fine with it... good for you. Sleep well and enjoy playing. Just know that this is the kind of thing that spoils the enjoyment for me and others.

So basically you are calling King and War a couple cheaters. Admin looked at it because you and few others whined and he came away feeling fine. Admin is the one who benefits the most if the game has integrity and that was the judgement; yet you are still bitching and moaning.

Two guys make a trade and you get your panties in a wad. what a drama queen you are Dave, maybe you should just stfu!

Kinda a funny comment NY coming from a team that made a similar trade and the KC GM quit after 1 year. It does make one wonder...

After watching Pittsburgh's draft, I'm convinced that there is no collusion between the two teams. Bling certainly took advantage of Pittsburgh in the trade, but Pittsburgh's draft shows a lot of signs of an owner that has absolutely no idea what they are doing.
