My side of the trade...
Dennis got toasted a lot. Not impressed with his actual play.
Khan was not in the top 40 in receptions or yards. It may be more a function of my offense, but he has not been a Pro Bowler by any stretch of the imagination.
And while I think Telford is great, I am not sold on the value of great LBs in this game. Take a look and the top 40 leaders in tackles last season. Know how many were LBs? 2. The other 38 were all DBs.
In essence, I traded Khan for Blackwell. Very similar ratings, but Khan has shown nothing and Blackwell is two years younger.
As I said, not sold on LBs (I mean I had three with over 90 ratings and my defense was horrible), so I traded for a DT who I think can make more of an impact.
Decided Dennis was expendable and Mellor is an upgrade at my #2 WR.
As for the draft picks included, I was already going to have 4 of the first 7 picks. And I had the 2-5 pick this year. So I thought it made sense to move one of these picks back to another draft. And the second round pick of TEN could be a top of the second rounder. (No offense TEN.) So I thought it was advantageous to get a hopefully high pick in a future draft since I had plenty of high picks in this one.
Bottom line is I am still trying to understand the gameplanning side of this game so I am trying to keep my team as young as possible while I figure it out.
FWIW, the ratings actually favored my team in this trade. Gave up 6390 (Telford 2470, Khan 2340, Dennis 1040 (proves how much he really sucks) and the pick 540) for 6448 (Clay 2340, Mellor 666, the 1-1 pick 3000 and the 2030 2 was 442). Carolina's 2-4 pick turned out to have 530 value, just below what the pick was valued at and Blackwell is at 2600, below the 3000 the pick was valued at.
